In January of 2009, I went to Gulmarg in Kashmir for a week of skiing. Who would have guessed that this would turn out to the be the best skiing I've ever experienced. Endless runs of fresh powder, no crowds, good snow, and a personal guide at all times to take me to the best places on the mountain. The first three days it snowed and we weren't able to ski the backcountry steeps at the top of the mountain. But once it cleared up, we had 3 straight days of run after run of steep powder skiing, sometimes down to villages 6,000 feet below from where we would be picked up by car. Amazing stuff and I'm kicking myself for not having gone every year I was in India.
