Over July 4th weekend in 2003, Niyati and I went biking along the Katy Trail in Missouri. The trail extends almost the entire width of Missouri, starting near St. Louis going almost to Kansas City. We did just about a 50 mile stretch on the Eastern side, staying at two bed and breakfasts along the way. The trail was uncrowded, always flat, and went through farms and small towns. From what we hear, its much more scenic further to the West, but this was fun anyhow. We rented a tandem bike and made our way slowly because of the extreme heat. Our first bed and breakfast was a farm house run by a former chef and his wife. They had a great location with a pool and nice grounds. The food was outstanding. Our last night was in a town called Herman, and was also a nice place. The town was a very sleepy town known for a few vineyards, but not much to do. We were driven back to the place we started, and then made the drive home.
