In December of 2006, my friend Kris Burkhardt and I went for a very short trip and very long drive to the Kumaon region of Uttaranchal, at the base of the Himalayas. We stayed at a great place from where you could see the Indian Himalayas reaching up to 26,000 feet. From there, we took a few hikes and did a little exploration around the local villages.
