We spent one week in Laos. The first five days were spent in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO Heritage city in northern Laos. Here we relaxed and soaked up the town, getting up early to give alms to the monks, visiting the temples and vegetable markets, biking, and exploring the cobblestone streets. We did take one day trip into the countryside to visit waterfalls, and local villages, as well as one trip for some very tame rafting through the mountains and countryside. At the end, we took a two day slowboat (8 hours a day) along the Mekong River towards Thailand, stopping for one night in Pakbeng along the way. Upon arrival at the border, we ferried across into Thailand, and made our way back to Bangkok from there.
