| For seven years now a group of eleven of us have
been making the "9 guy trip" It's sort of like having 11 teams in the Big 10. For the first three years there were nine, but only once did all nine make it. Since then there have been eleven, but we've had 8, 9, and 7 actually come. But tradition is tradition and the hopes that the 9(11) nazgul will one
day ride again together still linger. In 2001, we went to Durango Colorado
to do whitewater rafting on the Gunnison River. In 2002 we went to the Sechelt
Inlet off Vancouver Island in British Columbia for sea kayaking. In
2003, we headed to Lake Powell in Southern Utah for 3 days on a houseboat
and hiking through the canyons. 2004 brought us to the Baja peninsula for sea kayaking and snorkeling with sea lions. 2005 was an off year. In 2006 we made a winter trip to Jackson Hole for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and dog sledding. In 2007 we went to the interior of the Dominican Republic for Canyoneering, Cascading, and mountain biking. In 2008 we went to Oregon to summit Mt. Hood. And in 2009, with a record 10 people, we went to Zion National Park for an overnight hike through the Narrows and a "High Adventure Day" of rappelling and scrambling.
