In October of 2006 I went with my friends Chris, Rae, Bill, Dana, Raja, and Sangeetha to the Pushkar camel festival along with an additional 2 days to visit Jaipur and the Taj Mahal. We arrived at the camel festival early so as to see the most camels and other livestock being traded, and we were not to be disappointed. We never settled on the actual number of camels at the fair, but it was over 3,000 for sure along with horses, cattle, and lots of people. We also made a few visits to what is reported to be the only Brahma temple in the world, raced up a large hill to get a bird's eye view (up in less than 1/2 hour Bill), and of course, rode camels. Never did buy one though. They are supposedly hard to get through customs.
