In May of 1998, I visited South Africa for 3 weeks, with the primary purpose to visit Niyati at her home. During the time I was there, we went on a 3 day safari at the Sabi Sabi game reserve near Kruger National Park. We actually drove there from her place, and stayed in a luxury lodge - and had two game drives a day, and also took 2 night drives. We got closeup views of lots of major game, including a pride of 18 lions during a night drive, where the male walked within 4 feet of our open doored vehicle. Looked at me the whole way. We had close encounters with elephants and rhinos as well - which you can tell in the photos. We were unlucky in that we didn't see a leopard and this is one of the best places in which to see one. But for just 3 days worth, we really did see a lot. On our drive out, we saw a pride of lion and an elephant from our own vehicle. We didn't stick around too long to watch.
